KBS Inculcation - an effort to spread Sathya's way of performing Carnatic on Keyboard

It has been our dream to try and guide and spread way of performing / playing Carnatic music on Keyboard and this is indeed our attempt to do share the experience of K. Sathyanarayanan- a Keyboard Artiste, who ahs been attemting to perform our classical Carnatic music on this western instrument for past 10 years starting with his first concert on the 9th December, 2001.

Based on his experience and techniques T. Krishnababu - father of Sathya along with Smt. K. Lalitha - Sathya's mother and a Sangeetha Vidwan along with Sri Adyar D. Balasubramani - a Nadaswaram Vidwan have joined hands on this project. The study is supervised / guided by Sathya and all inputs are taken from him and streamlined to the requirements.

Classes are taken at Sathya' home and also at individuals residence subject to proximity from his residence and also on Skype. While we have started off with Keyboard, Vocal lessons we are in the process of adding Nadaswaram, Mrudhangam, Tabla and other instruments as well for training with experienced hands. Please do contact us at kbsinculcation (at) gmail.com or keyboardsathya (at) gmail.com and we will be happy to coordinate for the classes. It will be on individual one to one teaching / guiding methodology which we are sure will help music learners tremendously!

Here is the first few lessons notated by Mstr. K. Sarvesh, who has stared learning from us from April this year. Thanks to him for notating this. Here is a video clipping of the first few lessons of Sarali varisai being played by 2 students namely Mstr. Mukund on the left of the screen and Mstr. Bharath on the right of the screen.

Basic lessons played on Electronic Keyboard

This is the the first video clipping of our efforts to learn to perform basic lessons of Carnatic Music named - Sarali Varisai in ragam Mayamalavagaula. Mstr. Bharath & Mstr. Mukund are performing here the first few lessons in three speeds. The lesson is in Adi thalam - 8 beats per cycle and first speed is of 1 aksharam - letter  per beat, the second speed consists of 2 aksharams and the third four.

We shall try and record slowly with different students attempting the lessons and we are sure this will give a good insight as to a methodology of perfoming / playing keyboard as structured / experienced by Mstr. K. Sathyanarayanan fondly known as KeyboardSathya.
